Govind Shivkumar
Govind Shivkumar is a director in the Responsible Technology program at Omidyar Network, a social change venture that reimagines critical systems, and the ideas that govern them, to build more inclusive and equitable societies—for the benefit of the many, not just the few—across the globe. Omidyar Network has deployed over $2Bn in the last decade towards social change.
Govind leads Omidyar’s investments and portfolio in upholding governance and technology in the service of an open internet including Open Source Software, Technical Standards, Cyber Security, Digital Public Goods, Internet Governance and Web3.
Govind has played a critical role in the setting up institutional capacity in the open tech ecosystem arena such as the CoDevelop Fund, FOSS sustainability fund under Open Tech fund, Open Source Policy network at Atlantic Council.
Govind chairs the community of practice on disinformation at the UN Oslo Governance Center, is member of the executive committee at MOSIP, and manages ON’s portfolio in this sector including organisations Global Cyber Alliance, Open Source Tech improvement fund, and Code for Science and Society, Center for Democracy and Technology etc.
Govind spent more than 15 years of investing in private equity and venture capital executing more 20 deals and 7 exits across cyber security, digital identity and consumer and tech enabled sectors with Omidyar Network, and previously with LGT and Unitus across Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific and North America.
Govind starter his career as an analyst in the financial strategy group at Citigroup, he holds a bachelors degree in commerce, is a qualified chartered accountant and an alumina of the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
